End aside. This is where I start to get angry. Mr. Oddjob here seems to think that it's ok to lie outright about people. I haven't refered to GF as "the Beaver". I don't know why this person sees fit to lie, but I bloody well expect a retraction. If he's got an article that makes it look like I said that, he can damn well send me the evidence NOW so that I can try the (probably futile) backtrack to see who else is playing games. If he can't (and I won't be surprised at that) then I think a direct and abject apology is due immediately. >Obviously alice!jj, at his sensitive and sympathetic best, has >... >most moronic of people (of which Reagan appears to be one)). > >Simply put: a visit to a cemetary honours those buried therein. The SS >did *nothing* to merit any honour whatsoever. Nobody is trying to forget >the SS and the Nazis; in fact it is the Jewish tradition to remember. >The Jewish people simply want the SS remembered for what they were. >Why do you think that a visit to a concentration camp was requested by >the Jewish populace? So, Mr. Oddjob, all you can see is those SS soldiers. You can't see all of the plain, ordinary infantry (that's called "cannon fodder" by every army) that's also buried there, can you? I propose that you aren't motivated by any sort of reason (such as you so snidely insist), you're motivated by blind, unreasoning, and total hate. Since when do dead people represent anything that YOU, YOURSELF don't choose to decide they represent? (no, don't answer that, you've already shown that you are incapable of understanding that all people don't see the world in EXACTLY the same way YOU do) I claim all those dead soldiers (not the SS officers) represent tragedy of a truly awful sort. Do you think that they should all have died? Do YOU think that everyone who disagrees with you should NOT have the right to live? That's what you seem to be saying, since you deny that any tragedy whatsoever is represented by that cemetary full of unnecessarily dead people. What gives you the idea that all those people wanted to be in the army. I modestly propose that most of them wanted to be in an army about as much as the Jewish populace wanted to be in a concentration camp. <Yeah, there were the (blech) "true believers", but how many were they, compared to those who weren't effective enough to DO something?> <Note, again, even though you didn't see it the first time, that I'm NOT talking about SS men, just common infantry.> Ideally, nobody would die, eh? >> Please note that if the President were to refer to the >... >> tragic souls" or something like that, I can't see how that's offensive > >Somehow I think that alice!jj really believes this. Subtlety is somehow >lost on him (which is a dreadful handicap if one considers oneself a >... >connotations in words and symbolism in actions. What an idiot. Yeah, talking about subtlety must be lost on you, Mr. oddjob!london, you certainly have shown us none in this little hate-driven character assasination. As to idiocy, perhaps I'm showing it now by answering your little spate of hate. > ..!ihnp4!oddjob!london alice(formerly rabbit)!jj (and where's that retraction? I'm waiting, and I DO expect it.) P.S. It's unfortunate, but true, that this episode shows just exactly WHY netnews is going to die under it's own weight.
