I am a frequent reader of net.politics who long ago has dismissed libertarianism and libertarians as idealistic naive utopians who would screw things up even worse than they already are. I have long since lost my desire to read long rambling pro or anti libertarian discussions -- (sort of like reading stuff from the flat earth society). It used to be that such discussions contained the word "Libertarian" on the subject line, so I could just hit the n key and skip the article. Now I find myself reading twenty or thirty lines into an article before realizing it is just another Libertarian spouting the same dogma for the 1000th time (well it seems like it), or a non-libertarian refuting the dogma for the 1000th time. While I grant the right of such articles to be in net.politics, I would suggest that posters follow one of the following rules when submitting long pro or anti libertarian articles. 1) Use the word libertarian on the subject line 2) If the article is theoretical or philosophical in nature, as most of the long articles are, post them to net.politics.theory, where they belong, not to net.politics. Please cooperate to help us long suffering net readers keep up with the huge amount of traffic in net.politics. Bill Tanenbaum -- Bill Tanenbaum AT&T Bell Laboratories - Naperville Ill.
