Another source for the alternative newshounds out there: "The Nuclear Resister" is a monthly publication of the National No-Nukes Prison Support Collective. Its purpose is to spread word that wouldn't otherwise get around about acts of civil disobedience against nuclear weapons and power and ensuing arrests, trials, jailings and releases. It includes philosophical articles on the tradition of Gandhian nonviolence in the nuclear era, requests for letters of support for people in jail or facing trial, and announcements of upcoming actions. Were you aware that there are plans afoot for over two dozen CD** actions in the U.S. and Canada on the upcoming 40th anniversaries of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings (Aug. 6th and 9th)? Or have you heard of the Catholic priests facing 18 years in prison for taking a jackhammer to a Missouri missile silo? This is where you could have read all about it. The Nuclear Resister costs $10 for twelve issues (a few stamps will probably get you a sample copy) and can be ordered from: The Nuclear Resister, P.O. Box 1503, Ukiah, CA 95482.
