All you big-hearted "We-Are-The-World-We-Are-The-Children" people really have been generous to Ethiopia. Even more generous than you may realize. Here's a little gem from the Spotlight of August 26, 1985, entitled "Big Business": "The Marxist regime in famine-stricken Ethiopia will make an estimated $20 million in hard currency this year through the collection of tariffs imposed upon grain being exported into the country by foreign nations. Since December, Uncle Sam has paid Ethiopia more than $5 million to unload 400,000 tons of grain given to that country. World Vision International, a Christian relief agency, has paid about $750,000. Concern, an Irish organization, has paid at least $282,000 in order to unload its grain aid shipments. Ethiopia charges $12.60 a ton in port fees for grain unloaded there." (The Spotlight is published once a week by Cordite Fidelity Corp., at 300 Independence Ave., SE., Washington DC 20003.) No fools, these Marxists. --Don Black
