[net.politics] South Africa--Mutschers Plan

Keywords: Apartheid, Moderate, Ash-Heap, Kibbitz

Gene Mutschler tells us:
>P.W. Botha should cut a deal with Buthelezi to give the Zulus the Natal
>province and partition the country.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Actually, Gene, you've come up with an idea that the likes of
Botha and Reagan are scurrying for. Find a "moderate." Someone
who can quiet things down, take just a little bigger slice of the
pie. They're looking for the great black leader who will cut a
deal. They had great hope for Bishop Tutu being that "moderate."
Unfortunately, the Bishop has turned out to be too principled.

Nothing, nothing, nothing short of the complete dismantling of
Apartheid, and the establishement of Equal Citizenship for all
in South Africa will calm the situation. Forget your schemes
of partition. This is the 20th Century. Racism has no rightful
place. Don't fear the end of White Rule in South Africa! Fear
its continuation. The trouble is not the rebellion. The trouble is
Apartheid!
-----------------------
Gene then states his challenge:

>Sorry, Berman, you are destined for the ash-heap of history,
>because we are starting to fight back--in Afghanistan, Angola, and
>your beloved Nicaragua, just for starters. Eastern Europe is next.

--------------------------------------
(I'm reluctant to kibbitz about this, but how
how else can one respond to such a militant challenge?)

OK, Gene, its a bet: 50 cents says your free world fascists: Botha of
South Africa, Marcos of the Phillipines, Pinochet of Chile
are gone before counterrevolution succeeds in Nicaragua,
Angola or Afghanistan.
