[net.politics] A note about disagreement, censorship, and BLACK

scott@scirtp.UUCP (Scott Crenshaw) (09/10/85)

It seems that Don Black has been shown that all those
liberals he disagrees with so much will indeed stand up for
his right to free speech. Good. I hope he takes it to heart
the next time he tries to oppress some third-world country.

I disagree vehemently with Don Black. Normally when I
disagree with someone, I retain respect for them. But Don Black
shows so little basis for his opinions that I find it hard to
have any respect for him.

It is obvious that he's just not too bright. Or he has
a distorted view of reality. Or both. So I don't respect his ability
to engage in rational discourse.

He cries so often about liberals destroying his freedom
(see my response to his 'Cheap Shot' article), yet he advocates
actions which result in thousands being hurt or oppressed.

When I conclude that Don Black requires toilet training,
it derives from my impression of his mental state as shown by the
contents of his article.

So don't make a martyr out of him. No one wants to deny
him freedom. But we all wish he'd exercise it more carefully ...
