[] While reading the New York Times yesterday ( 10/9/85 ), I saw a picture of a girl who looked somewhat familiar, and then when I read the name I felt numb for a few minutes. I went to a "Jewish" summer camp as a camper and counselor during the mid-sixties and early-seventies. I am still friendly with many of the people I met there. Whenever we get together, for a re-union or other social event, eventually somebody will say "Does anyone remember...". One of those names from the past is Ilsa Klinghoffer. I recall that she spent one or two summers in camp as a "senior girl" and a few of the guys were enamored with her, about sixteen years ago. It seems that her father, Leon Klinghoffer, was the man killed by the terrorists -- thrown overboard. A friend of the Klinghoffer's, Charlotte Spiegel, was also on the cruise but she was one of the survivors. Her daughters, Jill and Maura, went to the camp for many more years than Ilsa. I doubt if if Ilsa remembers me, and as I said, it has been a long time since I've seen her. The point of this posting is that I've glanced at a few postings re: terrorism that have been cross posted to both this group and net.politics. I think that ideas and beliefs can change when an avoidable tragedy happens to someone you know. Remember: when you are discussing acts of terrorism real people are involved and it can be an emotional issue. Just remember that real people get killed in terrorist acts and there is no time for a net debate to avoid the next one! Shalom, David S. Green
