[net.politics] Responsibility

bellas@ttidcb.UUCP (Pete Bellas) (10/16/85)

I read an article in the paper about an ordinace passed by some small
town somewhere in the east (that really cuts in down doesn't it).

The article stated that people who had been shot with "Saturday Night
Specials" (try to define that) had the right to sue the manufacture
and retailer of the gun, as well as the person who shot them. Could
anybody please point me to some info on this (did it really happen,
or was it just a slow news day?). I wonder if people in car accidents
can now sue GM, and people who cut the selves with knives can sue Sears.
I know they can if the product itself is at fault, but not otherwise.

If responces are via mail I will summarize (if I can find anything).

		Thanks	-Pete-
