-->I know little of Welsh history, but I seem to recall that Scotland did not -->quite join voluntarily (else what was Culloden about?). It seems you know little of Scottish history as well or you'd KNOW that it was a SCOT who was the driving force of the united KINGdom.............. ^^^^ KING James VI of Scotland, in 1603(142 years before Culloden), ascended to the english throne and became also KING James I of England. Culloden on the other hand was the final hour of the Young Pretender who laid claim to the throne(by now the english and scottish thrones were synonomous in most peoples minds). At Culloden his army was utterly defeated (1000 dead to 50 dead) in approximately 40 minutes, whereupon the Pretender (Bonnie Prince Charlie) took to hiding in the Highlands. --> Although the Scots -->today may consider themselves loyal subjects, this has not always been the -->case. -->William Swan {ihnp4,decvax,allegra,...}!uw-beaver!tikal!persci!bill --> I beg all scots pardon on this but I would suggest that almost all scots deem themselves loyal british subjects but not at the expense of their scottish heritage.
