I realize that it sounds bigoted to say that there is such a thing as an "Arab mind," that somehow these people are inherently different than the rest of us. But from reading the newspapers and other observations, it really does seem that this Arab mind exists, and it is not pretty. The one example that I remember most is the Syrian "celebration" of the tenth anniversary of the Yom Kippur War. Shown, on Syrian TV, were Arab girls biting into live snakes. Also shown were men breaking dogs' necks and drinking their blood. As I remember it, American news organizations refused to show the videotape, as it was not "newsworthy," but it was shown on Israeli TV and I saw it as well, quite by accident, on a Christian TV show in America. I don't think that I have to comment on this. Other examples that stick in my mind: When the PLO was "victoriously" leaving Lebanon, as everyone saw, they were shooting their ammunition into the air. I read that around six (?) people were killed from the bullets going back down. An Egyptian newspaper (sorry, don't remember which) published recently that the Israelis are setting up extermination camps in Lebanon. They learned how to build them from 1940's Germany. It seems clear that we are not dealing with normal human beings here. Of course there are exceptions (I hope) but it does seem plausible that there really is an Arab psyche, with absolutely no regard for (human or animal) life. Once this is accepted, all normal channels of diplomacy are, unfortunately, down the drain. --- ..aluxp!altuxb!ail

> [Alan Lustiger] > I realize that it sounds bigoted to say that there is such a thing > as an "Arab mind," that somehow these people are inherently different > than the rest of us. ------ That's because it IS bigoted. I'd say that is a pretty good assessment of the mind of Assad. Period! ----- > [Stuff Omitted] > It seems clear that we are not dealing with normal human beings > here. Once you dehumanize your political enemies, you can do what you want with them. I could take the rantings of Gush Emunim and generalize horrible things about the "Jewish Psyche". I'd rather not, since I don't think the generalizations would fit me. STOP. STOP. Please stop this! -- Bill Tanenbaum - AT&T Bell Labs - Naperville IL ihnp4!ihlpg!tan

This article was just too absurd to believe. I am going to respond to it in the only appropriate way, by parodying it. Please bear in mind that my responses are not my opinions, but are intended to demonstrate the fallacies in the original. I realize that it sounds bigoted to say that there is such a thing as a "Jewish mind," that somehow these people are inherently different than the rest of us. But from reading the newspapers and other observations, it really does seem that this Jewish mind exists, and it is not pretty. The one example that I remember most is the behavior of this Jew I knew. He had left his stove on and some food in the oven. His wife was sleeping in the other room, and it seemed like he would cause a fire, but he just would not turn the stove off. I asked him why and he said it would be "shabby" or something -- I really didn't understand. His dinner was burned, so I offered him some perfectly good pork chops, and he turned me down rudely. I don't think that I have to comment on this. Other examples that stick in my mind: When the American allies of the Jews were "victoriously" leaving Lebanon, as everyone saw, they were shooting their ammunition into the air.
