[net.politics] Support the Contras Now

ashby@uiucdcsp.CS.UIUC.EDU (03/17/86)

The contra aid package is coming up for a vote this Wed or Thurs
in the House. Since there is little time, I strongly urge you to
call your Representative and urge him to support the aid package.
Passage of this aid is essential, so don't delay. (Send flames
to /dev/null).

Wow! Looks like some people are buying Ronnie's lies hook, line, and
sinker. Did you notice that RR claimed that this 100Meg wouldn't be
an addition to the defense budget, but would be earmarked from that money?
In other words, he thinks the defense budget would be big enough even
if we poured 100meg of it down a hole in central america. I hope the
aid to these terrorists fails to pass and that congress takes that 100meg
out of the defense budget.
Maybe if he can't get the money from congress, RR will try to raise it
from private donations. Do you remember a program back in the late sixties,
where schoolchildren were encouraged to donate $.50 or so to buy laboratory
mice? They called it, 'Send a mouse to college.' Maybe RR could get
schoolchildren to donate money to 'Torture an El Salvadorian peasant'.
Using our tax money to sponsor terrorism is almost as revolting as
using it to research destabilizing weapon systems.

My representative will be surprised to find she has undergone a gender change.
