<> You may recall that I sent out an erronous note awhile ago to the net stating that there were "4000" articles in net.consumers at CSRG. That was because I simply took whatever was in my .newsrc at face value. I corrected my .newsrc, and subsequently started re-receiving net.consumers. But.. Lo and Behold, it now says 1-4000 again. Has anybody else noticed this behaviour? -- From the pooped paws of: Suk Lee ..!{decvax,linus,allegra,ihnp4}!utcsrgv!spoo

There is no problem with net.consumers. I believe, Suk, that you are running into the known readnews bug which occurs when you type e- to save the last article read in the previous newsgroup. Due to the bug, the e- mucks up the numbers for the previous group to correlate to the group you were next reading. Why 4000? Perhaps you had been reading net.unix-wizards or something like that. I have been getting net.consumers with no problem. -- dave at Toronto (CSnet) {allegra,cornell,decvax,ihnp4,linus,utzoo}!utcsrgv!dave
