[ut.general] BLTJ "Unix revisited" issue

henry@utzoo.UUCP (Henry Spencer) (10/23/84)

As those of you who've been around for a while know, I did several bulk
orders of the old BSTJ special issue on Unix when it was new. I'm
contemplating doing the same for the upcoming BLTJ special issue on
"Unix revisited". Anybody interested? Terms would be the same as last
time, i.e. I order them and pay for them and you buy them from me. As
last time, the price would be cost ($3?) plus a modest profit. Note that
I'm not accepting reservations, just trying to assess interest. I can't
promise delivery dates or accept POs.

And before you ask, I don't know much more about what's in it than you do.

A lot of people have expressed interest in the BLTJ special issue, and
I will probably be doing a bulk order. Nothing will happen, though,
until the thing is available and the price is known. Stay tuned.

As many of you have doubtless noticed in the commentary in net.unix,
the price for the Unix-revisited issue of the BLTJ is a scandalous
US$27.00. Bulk-order discounts apparently are small. This being the
case, I am unlikely to do a bulk order for Toronto-area people: there's
too much up-front money involved, and the hassles are too large. My
current plan is to order two copies: one to be my own private copy,
and one to be available for Xeroxing. (In the event, of course, that
any callous, irresponsible friend of mine feels like violating copyright
by Xeroxing the whole thing. I do not advocate such lawlessness. :-)
