Abstract
The philosopher Bertrand Russell once contemplated the viability of
two ideologically opposed systems (communism vs. capitalism) co-existing
peacefully on this planet. Here, the merits of two opposing computer
architectures (Reduced vs. Complex Instruction Set Computers: RISC vs. CISC)
are debated. Arguing for RISC is Paul Chow PhD, from Toronto, who is currently
working on the MIPS project at Stanford. Arguing for CISC is Dave Lewis PhD,
from Toronto, who is currently working on a CISC smalltalk machine.
The battle will take place in the Thunder-Dome ("two men enter, one man leaves")alias GB 221.
