[ut.general] U of T library computer science journal deletions

gh@utai.UUCP (Graeme Hirst) (07/23/86)

As you probably know, the U of T library has decided to save some money by
cancelling a lot of its journal subscriptions.	Departments and branch
libraries were asked to suggest the journals they could best live without.
The Computer Science Department's Library Committee, in consultation with
faculty members, created such a list for the Computer Science Library.
The main library has now released its first hit list. It is said to cover
about 75% of the cancellations, with the remaining ones to appear shortly.

The following journals are to be deleted from the CS Library, but other
subscriptions will be retained:

Information Processing and Management	(retained at Robarts)
	Information Science (retained at Robarts)
Computers and Biomedical Research	(retained at SciMed Library)

The following journals will be deleted from the CS Library, and are not
available elsewhere on campus:

Computer Review (not to be confused with ACM Computing Reviews)
	Computing (the British computing newspaper)
	International Journal of Computer Mathematics

The following computer journals will be deleted from the SciMed Library, and
are not available elsewhere on campus:

	Automatic Documentation and Mathematical Linguistics
(English translation of the Russian journal)
U.S. NTIS Weekly Government Abstracts: Computers, Control, and
		Information Theory
	Pascal Explore: E33: Informatique . . .
	Pascal Explore: E34: Robotique . . .
Pascal Thema: T205: Science de l'information
(Abstracts in French of current literature, published
by CNRS from the Pascal database)

In addition, a few computer journals will be deleted from other libraries but
retained at the Computer Science Library. These include Acta Informatica and
and some ACM publications.

The full list of cancellations at all U of T libraries is available for perusal
at the Computer Science Library.

These deletions will be cast in stone unless *serious* objections are received
within the next week or so. Those concerning computer journals should be
directed to me.
