Our news feed has been very flaky for a long time. For instance in the recent C news source distribution we only got 2 of 14 parts of the distribution. This isn't the fault of any one machine, we're just near the end of a long linear chain (the chance of failure grows exponentially with the length of a chain). Thus I'm looking for someone on the campus ethernet who is willing to either send us a full newsfeed, or to accept ihave/sendme control messages to give us missing articles. The latter would perhaps be more efficient, the former easier to set up, and many machines have lots of spare cycles at night. Besides helping us, all the other machines on our chain would benefit as well. The missing articles would propogate upstream through utme (then ecf and hub), and downstream to manitou (then scarborough machines) and helios - with more machines coming.
