UTCS AND I.P. SHARP ASSOCIATES presents a talk on "MODERN APL"

	      Place:  MacLennan Physical Labs, Room 202
                                                                                
Dr.   Iverson, the  author of  APL, will  discuss the  evolution of  the
language, where it is today and its  potential for the future.  He  will
discuss current  APL  systems  and their  range  of  applications,  with
emphasis on the simple structure of modern APL, and the implications for
systems  design  and   teaching  traditional   topics.     He  will   be
demonstrating new language  extensions using a  recently announced  UNIX
implementation.   Dr.   Iverson,  formerly  with  I.P.   Sharp  and  now
retired, is a Turing Award winner and former IBM fellow.
