This special event, sponsored by IEEE Toronto and the University of
Toronto, is a replay of the IEEE satellite videoconference that will
be aired on December 7, 1988.  Enthusiastic support of this event will
support the efforts to install a permanent facility in the Sandford
Fleming building to receive these kind of events live, as well as
record them.  Please come out and show your support.  Early
registration will ensure that you receive a copy of the notes at the
door.

UofT faculty and staff registrations will be free.  The rest can
register and leave a cheque in Galbraith 254 by Monday, December 12.


Details:

In this panel discussion, supercomputers will be defined both in
technical and practical terms.  Viewers will learn who build them,
where they are, and how they can be accessed.  Participants will be
exposed to the "ins and outs" of using supercomputers by examining
relevant aspects of architecture, performance, vectorization and so
on.  The latest applications will also be examined.
