In reference to the request for information on the Intel iAPX 432, there is now a book out written on an introductory level. "A Programmer's View of the Intel 432 System," Elliot I. Organick, McGraw-Hill, 1983, ISBN 0-07-047719-1, $29.95. The text deals with the iAPX 432 architecture and the iMAX operating system, particularly with the structures that support Ada. I have only finished a few chapters, so I cannot offer a review of the book. A brief table of contents follows: 1. Top-Level View of the Intel 432 System Design 2. Program Structures and Semantics in Ada 3. Task Structures in Ada 4. i432 Object Structures for Program Execution 5. i432 Communication Structures for Program Execution 6. i432 Object Access and Type Management 7. i432 Input/Output 8. Process Management 9. Memory Management 10. Object Filing Appendix A lists 17 papers that have been published discussing the iAPX 432 and the iMAX operating system.
