References: As an employee of EOSC, I'm responding to the improbable suggestion that EXXON may decide to "sit on" the Z800 chip and use it in its ownwork stations. I have no relevant inside info, and these are my own opinions, not those of management, which may or may not agree. In general, we just don't operate like that. Zilog has an exellent components business. Zilog, and other parts of EXXON, also use Zilog components in other products. When Zilog has a good component, they geenrally sell it. If they are not prepared to offer it to the general public, then they are not likely to be able to offer it to other divisions of EXXON either; they might in that case use the chip in their own workstations, but the chances of suppressing sales of a chip as generally useful as a z800 are small. - Toby Robison (not Robinson!) allegra!eosp1!robison decvax!ittvax!eosp1!robison
