SEMINAR ANNOUNCEMENT
                    Joint RIACS/Comp. Res. Branch Seminar

SPEAKER: Ken Sevcik
         RIACS, NASA Ames

TOPIC: Queueing Network Models -- What They Are Good For And
	How To Solve Them

ABSTRACT: Queueing network models are now widely used in certain performance
evaluation and capacity planning contexts. By presenting the assumptions
upon which these models are based, this talk will convey a feeling for the
kinds of problems for which the technique is applicable. We will survey a
range of analytic solution techniques and indicate a spectrum of approaches
leading to various balances between accuracy and computational effort.
