[Munch a bunch] With all the talk lately about what constitutes a fair benchmark, I thought I would ask a "silly" question. Would those that are making these benchmarks please tell us what hardware you are using. Are we to assume that all memory costs the same (16 MHZ for a 68K is awful fast for memory to be cheap)? Does the 68K have an MMU attached? It seems to me that since the 286 has an MMU built in, then no fair test can be made against a 68K unless it too has an MMU. Are these BUSS systems where some delay's are placed by the buss itself? Ect? ect? What Im trying to say is that benchmarks are more or less garbage unless the underlying hardware is understood. It seems difficult for me that a discussion can actually take place which focuses on software without the hardware implications. No stand taken. I just want to know. Angel
