Does the scsi and sasi standards really standard? When someone
says that thier controller is scsi compatible do I believe them?

Also, does anyone have an address or reference to the definition
of both these standards?

sasi? probably not
scsi? probably - maybe...

With respect to Floppy Disks, I have in front of me:
			American National Standard
				Interfaces Between
			Flexible Disk Cartridge Drives
				and Their Host Controllers

			ANSI X3.80-1981

In spite of the not so recent date, the copy was recently acquired from ansi:

			american national standards institute, inc.
1430 broadway, new york, new york 10018

Quite likely there [is/will be] a Winnie standard (scsi=scuzzy), either
published by these folks, or in the works at the committee level. I can
recommend an independent standards distributor:

		National Standards & Specifications
		5161 River Road
		Bethesda, MD 20816
Tel: 800-638-8094 except in MD, where it is 301-951-1310
Ask for Beverly Hicks, ext. 437

I agree. To order latest SCSI standard, request the "ANSC X3T9.2 (SCSI)
draft standard", include $20 for each copy requested plus a self addressed
mailing label. Send request/money/label to The X3 Secretariat, Computer
& Business Equipment Manufacturers Association, 311 First Street, N.W. -
Suite 500, Washington, DC 20001
