AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION:
Either a university van and driver (if demand warrants it) or Ray's
Limousine Service (cost: approximately $5.00) will be meeting incoming
flights.
PARKING: Individuals staying in campus housing will receive parking
permits at the time they check in. If you are staying off campus and
will require a parking permit, please indicate this on the postcard
mentioned above.
HOUSING REGISTRATION
DORMITORIES: The check-in desk for dormitory rooms is located in
Wadsworth Hall (B37 on the campus map). You should enter the build-
ing from the door located adjacent to Faculty-Staff Parking Lot 16W
(accessible from US-41) and signs will be posted directing you to the
desk. It is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; after hours, please call
487-1401. The dormitory director may be reached at 487-2322.
APARTMENTS: The office for the Daniell Heights apartments is labelled
on the enclosed map. It is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through
Friday; if you plan to arrive on the weekend or after 5 p.m. please
call (906) 487-2727, preferably in advance of your arrival.
MOTELS: Please make any arrangements directly with the motels at this
time. Suggestions: Best Western Kings Inn or The Main Street Inn, both
in Houghton.
MEETING REGISTRATION: The registration table will be open Monday
through Friday from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. in front of Room 100 of the
Electrical Energy Resources Center (B-7 on the enclosed map).
Individuals requiring assistance at other times should contact
Darrell Hicks or Deborah Lockhart.
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
SUNDAY, AUGUST 4: There will be a get-together (with a cash bar)
for all participants and their guests from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. in
the Memorial Union (B-34 on the enclosed map). Signs will be posted
in the Union to direct you to the proper room.
TUESDAY, AUGUST 6: A bus trip through the beautiful and scenic
Keweenaw Peninsula is being planned. It will include stops at
Copper Harbor and Fort Wilkins State Park, as well as at other points
of interest along the shoreline of Lake Superior. There will be a
stop for dinner (dutch treat) at Fitzgerald's, a restaurant on the
lakeshore. The bus will leave Houghton at approximately 2:30 p.m.
and return at approximately 9:00 p.m. You may sign up for this
trip during the first day of the workshop/conference.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 7: There will be a banquet for all participants
at the Memorial Union. A cash bar will be open at 6:00 p.m.; dinner
will be served at 7:00 p.m. The cost of the banquet is included in
the registration fee; the cost for guests will be approximately $11.00.
We will need to know the number of guests by the afternoon of Monday,
August 5.
