In the film "Barbarella" one of the characters is "Duran Duran".

I was wondering if this is where a certain band got the name from ?

Duran Duran got their name from an English comic strip (I believe it
involved a dog).

This may be true, but I also know that Duran Duran was the name
of Jane Fonda's pilot in the movie "Barberella."
