Denelcor Inc., Aurora, CO, "closed its doors this month [Oct], dismissing all of its employees after six profitless years and an unsuccessful attempt to bring multiple-instruction multiple-data parallel processing to 64-bit supercomputer markets." From "Parallel Processing: Why a Shakeout Nears" in the Oct 28 issue of Electronics, pp. 32-34. My mathematician colleagues, who do research on the design of algorithms, felt that the HEP was one of the most "interesting" architectures around. --henry schaffer
