Back at my undergraduate institution we had an "old" PDP-9 that had its basic monitor in core. Since core is nonvolatile this worked out fine. Once you brought up the PDP-9 you used paper tape (arghh!!!!) to feed in your program, a different monitor, etc... Jerry Heuring
