[net.arch] Intrest in a "net.dsp"

pete@oakhill.UUCP (Peter Percosan) (03/10/86)

  Hello world,

I am trying to find out if there is enough interest on the
  net to either
        1) start a net.dsp discussion group, -or-
        2) get discussions going on currently existing groups.

If there is a great enough response I will post.

  See Ya -

I myself am interested. Now, such discussions occur in net.math, net.graphics,
and net.audio. If there is not enough interest, we may want to start a mailing
list.

Like they say "sorry to post, but I don't have the return address".

I am interested in a DSP discussion group. I'm based towards architectures
rather than algorithms, but either is useless without the other.

My group here at BNR is interested in seeing the establishment of a
dsp newsgroup, possibly as net.arch.dsp or simply net.dsp.
The latter would provide for future expansion to net.arch.N where
N is a specific processor name. It would be nice if all the
DSP suppliers and potential suppliers can participate. Maybe you
people at Austin Motorola can inaugurate the net by saying a bit
more about your 56000 chip.

Yes, I think that the number of different DSP microprocessors
and their diverse applications warrants a separate group. I would
be interested in following and contributing to DSP discussions,
particularly about:
	a) Development tools (manufacturer's and 3rd party)
	b) Performance (benchmarks and personal experience)
	c) New product rumors and announcements
	d) Interface methods and I/O considerations
	e) New architecture directions/suggestions

I am involved with DSP work at Bell-Northern (TMS 32010 and
TMS 32020 mainly), mainly for telephony audio work.
