A few weeks ago, I posted a survey to this group. I've been trying to discover how successful Ada will be in the *COMMERCIAL* marketplace. (The *MILITARY* success of Ada is assured by DoD edict.) Thanks to those people who answered. I only received a few replies (about a half dozen). Either we've got mailer problems, or hardly anybody has plans! Everyone who responded was enthusiastic, but these points were made: * need Ada compilers for more machines * existing compilers too slow * not sure strong typing is a good idea * also evaluating Pascal, C, and Modula-2 * there should be a strong market for Ada packages, for instances interfaces to SPSS. * package piracy should not be a serious problem I suspect that the commercial market for Ada would be stronger if some validated compilers were available.
