IDL (Interface Description Language) is a notation for describing abstract data structures. It was used to define Diana, an intermediate representation of Ada programs. IDL was the subject of my Ph.D. dissertation, and is a part of my ongoing research efforts. I am interested in hearing from anyone who has used IDL. I would like to share experiences with defining data structures in IDL, or with building tools to process IDL descriptions. I am also interested in discovering areas where current IDL is weak. I can be reached via USENET mail via ...{decwrl,allegra}!utcsri!qucis!dalamb or via BITNET as dalamb@qucis.bitnet ARPAnet users can reach me via dalamb%qucis.bitnet@WISCVM.ARPA My Postal Service address is David Lamb Department of Computing and Information Science Queen's University Kingston, Ontario, Canada K7L 3N6 I would appreciate it if anyone responding to this note would let me know their netmail address if they have one, and Postal Service address as well.
