Abstract:

The STONEMAN document was intended as an initial statement of the
requirements for an Ada Programming Support Environment (APSE). These
requirements were grouped according to where they seemed to fit into a
three layered model of the APSE: in the lowest level, or kernal; in the
minimal subset to be supported by the kernal; or in the fully elaborated
APSE. Over time, both the requirements and the concepts underlying them
have undergone a certain amount of change.

A primary vector of these changes has been the STONEMAN Working
Group of the joint KIT/KITIA organization. This talk will trace the
evolution of STONEMAN, from the first analyses undertaken by the group
to the present state of affairs, wherein certain new concepts are
visible but have not yet been cast into a reviewable draft for a new
document.

Steve Glaseman spent a long time at the Rand Corporation, a shorter
time at Teledyne Systems Co., and is now managing the Advanced
Architectures and Protocols Section in The Aerospace Corporation's
Software Engineering Subdivision. He has been involved in Ada since
1975 and is currently a member of the KITIA, acting as chairperson of
its Working Group 4, and as a member of the joint KIT/KITIA STONEMAN
Working Group.

Note:
LA SIGAda will be taking Steve Glaseman to dinner after the
meeting, if you are interested in joining us call Ed Colbert,
