info-ada@ucbvax.UUCP (02/07/86)
[ed. - forwarded at the request of the undersigned.] I have recently tried to reply to an article I read on net.lang.ada, criticizing the original poster for spelling errors. Due to the fact that rn, the news program, thought the original poster was info-ada, my reply got sent to the newsletter. My reply therefore annoyed the readers of the newsletter and embarrassed the original poster. Neither of these effects was desired by me. Since I am not connected to ARPA, the first inkling I had of what had happened was in a personal mail from Mr. Nyberg, who I understand is the newsletter administrator and who has been very helpful. I would like to apologize to Mr. Baldo and to all those who were annoyed by my reply. I did not reply personally to some of the people who wrote me, because they did not include a usenet address. I would like to let them know that I have received and read their mails, and I hope I have learned enough not to make this mistake next time.
