Re: Verdix and Telesoft compilers for Unix. I had nine graduate students banging on the Verdix compiler (DEC VAX-11/780 under 4.2bsd) for the Spring semester and we only found three very minor glitches that were worth reporting (one was already known). I kept the only set of manuals, the students used the online documentation system which was obviously adequate since, after minimal lecturing from me about the library system, the students had very few questions to research in the manuals. I was very pleased with the Verdix software. The only Telesoft compiler I've used was an ancient (circa 1983) version. Any opinions on that system are best forgotten since I am sure Telesoft's new Ada-based compiler is a great improvement.
