I have encountered a strange problem with S.When I try to read in a
real number with,say 10,decimal places from a file using the read
function,I get complete garbage.Has anybody encountered the same
problem and if so,have you found a way to correct it????I guess
it has to do with the routines used to convert character input to
an internal real;probably there is a limit to the length of a string.
If so,it seems to be designed in a very non-robust way.Truncation of
long strings I can see,but this yields garbage instead....Try it.
