[net.rec.ski] "Tahoe"

bart (01/16/83)

As of this past weekend, ski areas at Tahoe at least 4 or 5 feet of snow,
and up 10-12 feet in some areas. The warm days have produced icy conditions
in many areas, and some wet/spring snow on the sunward slopes.

The winds following the fresh snow have blown off many of the higher ridges
and faces (a rain following fresh snow freezes the lower layers, and
protects the snow pack from wind. We haven't had that).

Advanced slopes are getting a bit treacherours, while the groomed slopes
are still pretty good. It's a good time to prac
-tice your mogul skiing (there are LOTS), and plenty of icy moguls. New
snow is expected in the next 48 hours.
