Attention Skiiers: There is still good skiing to be had on the Palmer Snowfield on Mt. Hood (in Oregon). Be sure to bring your sunscreen cuz it's mighty bright up there (9k ft). Hurry though, the season closes Sept 13 (and will probably re-open in mid-November). The really fun part of summer skiing on Mt. Hood is not the skiing per se, but watching the tourists that ride the chair part way up the mt. They stand around and behave like they've never seen snow before. It's like they are watching some strange ritual that they don't quite understand and certainly can't sympathize with.
