I concede that Bachelor Butte could have been officially changed to Mt. Bachelor. I don't know for sure. My 1980 AAA highway map and my 1983 Rand-McNalley Atlas still say Bachelor Butte. But you know highway maps -- those kind of changes don't get updated very often. I still beg to differ on the vertical feet. No matter how you work it, from the top of summit lift (8950') to the bottom of the lift with the lowest base elevation (Outback at 6100') is still only 8950-6100 = 2850 vertical feet. However, I don't think you can ski that run. Total skiable vertical feet, IN ONE RUN, is 8950' to 6300', or 2650' vertical. I admit to my error when I said 2600 vertical feet. I would be interested in how you come up with 3100 vertical feet. Send me your calculations. -- Walt
