I'm looking for advise on ski equipment. I'm a novice skier, but I intend to spend several weeks in the mountains this season, and I'm planning on putting much of that time into learning how to ski better. I've been skiing a couple of times before, with rental equipment, and vowed the last time I went that I would own at least my own boots before I ever went again. I've had the following suggested for me (I'm 6'1" tall, 185lbs): Solomon Boots and bindings Rossignol skis, 190-195cm I have wide feet, and am looking to do mostly downhill skiing - no moguls or jumping or any of that strange stuff. Just straight downhill stuff. I have a wide foot, and found the Nordica boots to be extremely uncomfortable. I tried on a pair of Solomons (don't remember which model), and they were great. They held my heel firmly in place, and yet didn't squeeze down uncomfortably on my rather high instep. I hear bindings are really about the same, so my biggest question is about the skis themselves. Several people I talked to agreed on the length for me, but not on the composition or the manufacturer. I don't want something I'm going to "grow out of" quickly, and yet I don't need a super-high-performance ski, either. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks,
