Upon returning from 2.5 weeks skiing/climbing in Utah (Salt Lake City and Logan area), I would like to submit a few tidbits which may ease some of the financial bite of the sport. Smiths Food and Drug stores (several locations in SLC) sells discount coupons ($12.00) which can be exchanged for all day lift passes at Snowbird (excluding the gondola which costs an additional $5). As far as I could tell these coupons have no date restrictions and are good for the 84-85 season. Brighton is celebrating an aniversary (40th, I think) so they have all sorts of specials: $5.00 lift passes on mondays and thursdays, three-pin nights thursday evenings which include $8.00 for telemark group lessons and $5.00 night passes for those on X-C skis. I think Solitude also has similar specials (ladie's days, etc.) but do not remember the details, perhaps others know. Great skiing can be affordable, even when you ride the lifts.
