Well guys and gals... spring skiing is still going on. Every year, after the boards have sat rusting for a month or so, I grab my oldest pair of rock skis, take a belt sander to them and make some sharpies on the edges. Then I hop in the car, drive for 9 to 10 hours, and hit Killington Vermont for some mogul bashing. It is the, no, THE wildest skiing of the year around May/June. Sure there isn't a hell of a lot of snow, but what they have and what it is like make the trip worth it all. Last year I went down around May 24 (Canadian Holiday) and burned out. It is really fast hard skiing with genormous (read big) moguls and lots of partying people. In two days I did more muscle damage to my legs that the whole rest of the year. Strange thing though, you come to the end of the run, you are cramping out, and you get back on the chair to go up and do it again. I was a little embarassed as to how out of shape I was so I went home burned out, did some flights of stairs for 2 weeks and went back in June. It was hot, you had to walk a ways to get to the snow, and the black flies were carrying you off into the woods when you stopped to rest, but yes sir, I was in better shape, and sure as shootin I will be there again this year... If you want to find out how it is there before you go, there is a number with a recorded snow report. 802-422-3261. It is updated daily and is pretty accurate. Usually there is a good crowd (read its crowded) with people from Toronto, Montreal, Boston, .... Accomodation is usually cheap at this time of year too. Hope to see you there... t.jones
