[net.rec.ski] Skiing in Italy

pam@cepu.UUCP (Pam McGarvey ) (08/08/85)

-------------

I would like to ski in Europe next winter and am especially interested
in the Italian Alps or Dolomites. The group is mostly intermediate
in ability. While we have been to Europe/Italy before, none have
ever skiied there. We were hoping March would be a good time to go.

I would appreciate information on:

-- Best ski areas in each (specific resort/town names)
-- Best month to go.
-- Info on the lift system (how big, types of lifts, contiguous
systems with one ticket, separate tickets needed for each, cost)
-- Recommended modes of transportation at the area (do you need
to rent a car; is bus service to lifts available; or do
you need to use taxi/public bus/train)
-- Recommendations for hotels in the pension to medium hotel
     (not ultra-luxurious) price range
-- Info on attractions other than skiing in each area (site seeing,
     other winter attractions, culture, etc.)
-- Places to eat that shouldn't be missed/are sure bets for the price.
-- Best way to get there from Milan (or should we fly to Rome or elsewhere?)
-- Any other information you think would be useful.
