Jack Frost/Big Boulder (same org.) both offer a first day on skis package that a great bargain - plus good instructors (personal opinion). They use the GLM (Graduated Length Method). I took the class at Big Boulder around 7 yrs ago and the following year started my girls (2) at Jack Frost. We all thought it was a good way to start. I was lucky enough to have a friend (expert type) to work with after that first day, but the "first day package" gives you the basics to make it down the hill, and more important how to survive your first encounter with a chairlift.
