I started with shock when I found that our manufacturing group is
considering buying a VAX to run VMS (ugh nasty nasty) so they can use a
Materials Resource Planning (MRP) package available thereon.
Apparently they have no pointers to UNIX versions of such software.
(Hear that, entrepreneurs???)
Anyway, I'm trying to find out if anyone does know of such software.
It should handle Manufacturing, Order Processing, Accounts Receivable,
and Accounts Payable. I'd appreciate pointers to any packages doing
most of these and running under UNIX. I understand the price range for
this type of software is around $100K, if that's a clue to anyone. We
have RTI Ingres and would love to use it here, but don't currently
have time to develop a system based on it.
Please write me and save the reputation of UNIX!! I'll summarize
replies to the net.
