I don't get on the net very often anymore so please forgive me for combining all of these thoughts, and especially for mentioning U2 and Wham! in the same sentence (no less the same article).b 1. U2 at Madison Square Garden: It's been a week now, and I am now coherent enough to talk about it. THEY ARE GRRRRREAT!!!! I first saw them in late '81/early '82 at the Ripley in Philly ($7, stand where you want to). The dressing room there was next to the bar upstairs, so after the show we went up. My friends are musicians, so when the band came out for awhile, we were able to talk to them. Who knew? Now they're selling out megastadiums. At the Garden, they sounded as good as ever. At one point, Bono started singing "Ruby Tuesday" and wanted the crowd to join in. About half the crowd know the words. The group behind me wanted to know if it was a new song! Everything was excellent. BTW, the opening act (lone Justice) was terrible. GO SEE U2!!! 2. Wham! as the ambassadors of rock (????) in China. That is a frightening concept. 3. I heard a rumor that Talking Heads may play Philly in June. Anyone know anything about this, or any other date? I refuse to miss them again. 4. Anyone have any advance word on the new ABC release? I heard one of the songs this morning (sorry, i can't remember the name), and wasn't too impressed (no flames from those who have never liked ABC in the first place). Well, I'm off to buy the new Tears for Fears. Oh, I almost forgot, Frankie (GTH) is coming back in May (Philly on 5/21, other dates in NJ and NY that same week; send flames on this to /dev/null). Please send replies to the net or to me at ..!hobcms!hopd4!dvw, NOT TO THIS ACCOUNT PLEASE! 'Bye! Diane Wilkerson ..!hobcms!hopd4!dvw
