I agree. The opening curly bracket starting on the next line left aligned with the current block instead of appearing on the same line does make it simpler to read C code. I have just picked up some collection of C programs for update and maintenance and I can see how convenient it is to locate blocks by visually drawing straight lines between the two brackets.
