A plug for a new C book: "Programming in C" by Stephen G. Kochan, Hayden Book Company, Rochelle Park, NJ, $18.95. After having read parts of this book and talked to others who have used it to learn C, I think there are several good points about this book that should be noted: 1) It is well organized and written in an easy to read style. 2) Its good organization allows readers to skip chapters and sections of chapters if the information is already known. 3) All new concepts are introduced with examples. 4) The programming examples are complete programs, not sections or routines. 5) The examples work. 6) The entire language is covered (although continue, break, and goto are tucked away in a "Miscellaneous Features" chapter). I feel I can recommend this book to anyone learning C. It has been used here at the labs in several after-hours C courses, and the students I have spoken with are very enthusiastic about this book.
