We have heard of exactly two compilers that meet our specifications: - full K&R - runs under IBM S-370 OS/MVS producing standard object modules - stdio support except that one of the two, Whitesmiths, has *not* got (according to respondents on the net, with experience with Whitesmiths on other machines) stdio! Responses indicate that Whitesmiths has an aggressively *NONSTANDARD* I/O library, so they can charge royalties for any programs using it, and restrict you to their compilers. Problems also seem to exist, based on example programs I have seen, with the actual language implemented. When I get Whitesmiths response to a query for more detail I will let you know. As to the other compiler, that is AT&T, and we haven't gotten detailed info from them yet. More posting(s) when we do. If ANYONE out there knows of other compilers or can add more to the above, please respond. Bennett Todd ...{decvax,ihnp4,akgua}!mcnc!ecsvax!bet
