Integrated Computer Systems, based in Los Angeles, offers "Hands On" 4 day courses on C. Classes are around 20 people, and C is taught using a Zilog ZENIX System with 2 students per terminal. They hold courses around once a month, alternating in major cities such as Washington, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, etc. They also can arrange on-site courses. Their contact # is 213-417-8888 The courses are fairly comprehensive, and most students come away very satisfied (but I am biased somewhat as I am an occasional instructor). Cost is somewhere around the $700 mark I beleive. Cheers -- Bill (sdcsvax!bill)

Well, I suspect there will be quite a few postings but here goes......... There are a gazillion places that offer courses I guess and I am surprised you aren't on all their mailing lists. Here a but a few Computer Technology Group (Telemedia, Inc) 310 South Michigan Avenue Chicago, IL 60604 312/987-4000 Many seminars, courses, video courses, etc Digital Equipment Corporation Educational Services, BUP/E55-18 12 Crosby Drive Bedford, MA 01730 800/332-5656 Just gearing up for UNIX training but do have offerings AT&T (You know...the "consider it standard" people? Not sure of the address for training. Try calling 919/697-5714. They will probably have you call another number or two -- they generate more revenue that way... :-) NCR 800/845-CASE (in Ohio 800/845-CASE) UNIX Training Corp 408/370-9710 I do not endorse any of the above. I just know they are among the many places with courses and seminars and self-paced study stuff. Never taken any course from any of the above. In other words, don't blame me if you have a bad experience and none of the bove companies should send me bundles of money for the advertisement. No, please! I insist. No cash. No free PCs. No free airline tickers for long distance use... -- Fred Avolio, DEC -- U{LTR,N}IX Support 301/731-4100 x4227 UUCP: {seismo, decvax}!grendel!avolio ARPA: grendel!avolio@seismo

<> Then there is always The Instructor Set, based somewhere in Manhatten. They seem to have above average instructors, and these instructors have had many years of experience in UNIX and C (both programming and training). They have an EXCELLENT UNIX internals course!! I have no connection with them, but what I've heard about them beats the bejubees off anyone else! Ross M. Greenberg @ NYU ----> allegra!cmcl2!acf4!greenber <----

International Techinical Seminars (ITS) of San Francisco offers many UNIX courses, generally taught in San Francisco or Silicon Gulch. They have C courses, as well as internals courses on the 4.2 file system, IPC mechanisms, curses, etc. Their courses are offered on weekends, most in half-day courses. They have done specialized courses at companies offices upon request. Most of their instructors have unusual qualifications, often having written the code they are teaching. People seem to be pleased with them, but since I teach a few of the courses, this may not be the most neutral commentary. They can be reached at (415) 621-6415. Most courses cost $175, and classes usually have between 10 and 20 people. They mail out course announcements to anyone who wants them (and probably several people who don't :->), so you can just ask to be put on the mailing list. Ken Arnold
