[net.lang.c] mod.std.c is now a moderated group

Sorry if this is a repeat in your system, there were holes
in the network when I posted it originally. As an update:
the first article in mod.std.c has been posted. If by any
reason you think you are not receiving mod.std.c, contact
your news administrator.
************************************************************
Two weeks ago I requested opinions about the desirability of
a moderated group for the discussion of the ANSI C standard
proposals, ideas, etc. As I promised, these are the results
of the poll:

YES Yes with IFs NO TOTAL
______ ___________ __ _____

   8 2 1 11

I'm not sure if by USENET standards this is a significant vote
for a two week period. However, since I volunteered to do this,
and because the lack of a strong negative response to the proposal,
I decided that I will go ahead with the experiment and maintain
the mod.std.c group as its initial moderator.

The ANSI C discussion in net.lang.c has been abundant
for the last 3 months. Mod.std.c would be the first moderated technical
group in USENET and we are interested to know how well it will serve
the users of the C language. A lot will depend on its acceptance by
the current readers of net.lang.c. And by the way, it is still a
good idea to read net.lang.c. However, I encourage everyone to
try to send ANSI related contributions to the moderator.

I would welcome articles that are of sound technical content and
concise. The less wordy and unprecise the article, the easier my
task should be. If many articles are mailed to me, an ARPANET style
digest will be posted regularly. (Consider that I will be doing
this in my almost non-existent spare time.)

So the floor is open....

Mail your articles to cbosgd!std-c
Mail administrivia to cbosgd!std-c-request

You can get to cbosgd from almost any major node in USENET, like
decvax, ucbvax, ihnp4, hou3c, nsc, etc.

ARPANET folks, without guarantees, try cbosgd!std-c@Berkeley
or cbosgd!std-c-request@Berkeley respectively.

Cbosgd will be forwarding to my real mailing address for this activity.
