I am looking for a C compiler for a VMS system. I currently have a Whitesmith compiler that I am dissatisfied with. If you have any suggestions please contact me, preferably through electronic mail. We have found the VAX-11 C compiler sold by Digital to be very nice. It looks like any other VMS compiler, and (though we haven't used it often) is only slightly awkward to use with the VMS debugger. It supports standard i/o, UNIX-type i/o, and RMS file functions. The only thing I haven't seen yet are the varargs.h library and the void type. We like it. Why not use DEC's VMS C compiler? It seems to be pretty good..

The Digital C compiler is very high quality and generates much better code than the unix pcc does. rich
